Museum
The Rua Castelo Museum, and the exhibition "From Stone to Gunpowder", was born from the desire of two friends: Jorge Rosado, Portuguese, born in Marvão, and José Rivero Sudon, Spanish, born in Albuquerque.
The idea was to create a space for memories inside a hotel, preferably within the Marvanense Fortress.
One donated his collection of weapons, and the other the space, and from their shared dream was born the work that honors, and brings to the present, the true meaning of the military strategy and architecture of the past.
The Museum is open extended hours, from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
From Stone to Gunpowder

The Elegance of Transition: The Manueline Window
With its intricate stonework, it allows us to glimpse the past and symbolizes the moment when the fortress opened itself to the world and the aesthetics of the Discoveries.
It is more than an architectural element - it is an invitation to observe Marvão through the eyes of History, where light shines through granite sculpted with the mastery of centuries past.

The Sentinel of Marvão (The Gunpowder)
It is at this stage that art gives way to military engineering and wrought metal.
The Splendor of Armory: Our private collection showcases the evolution of national courage. From the austere gleam of medieval armor to the technical precision of unique rifles and gunpowder accessories; each piece tells a story of vigilance. These are objects that once guaranteed peace on the borders and now rest in the silence of our hotel.

The Awakening of Humanity (The Stone)
A Sensory Experience: we promote direct contact with the stone pieces - in our space, you can feel, with your own hands, the texture and weight of the pieces worked by our ancestors, in a primitive and powerful connection with the material.
